Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Effective

Current status

Paid sales of DocSleuth have not started. All features are currently available within the Free-tier limits and no payments are taken. This policy sets out in advance the rules that will apply once Pro is on sale.

1. How purchases work

  • Pro will be sold only as an in-app purchase through the Mac App Store (Apple) or the Microsoft Store. We do not take payments directly on the website or elsewhere.
  • Payment is collected by Apple or Microsoft, and refunds are in principle processed by the store under its own procedures. If the store does not refund you but you are entitled to withdraw under the law, we refund you directly (section 4).
  • Price, duration and any restriction on withdrawal will be shown on the store purchase screen and in the product information below before you buy.

2. Right of withdrawal

Under the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (the “E-Commerce Act”):

  1. General rule: you may withdraw within 7 days of receiving the contract terms (or of the start of supply, if later) (Article 17(1)).
  2. Restriction for digital content: a Pro entitlement is digital content that takes effect in the app immediately after purchase. Once the entitlement has been applied to the app and supply has begun, withdrawal for a change of mind is restricted (Article 17(2)(5)). For this purpose, and as Article 17(6) requires, we show that withdrawal is restricted on the purchase screen, next to the purchase button, and provide a Free tier with no time limit as a way to try the app first (section 3).
  3. When the restriction does not apply: regardless of item 2, you can withdraw or obtain a refund in the following cases.
    • The entitlement was not applied to the app after payment (supply has not begun): you may withdraw within 7 days under item 1.
    • The entitlement differs from what was displayed or advertised, or is supplied differently from the contract: you may withdraw within 3 months of supply or within 30 days of when you knew or could have known of this (Article 17(3)).
    • The store approves a refund under its own policies.
  4. Defects: if a defect in the app prevents Pro (removal of limits) from applying correctly, we will help resolve it. This help is offered if you want it; you do not have to go through troubleshooting before asking to withdraw or for a refund. Our troubleshooting support does not limit your rights of withdrawal or refund.

3. Free tier as a trial

As required by Article 17(6) of the E-Commerce Act for digital content where withdrawal is restricted, we provide a Free tier so you can try the app thoroughly before buying. It offers the same features as Pro — keyword and semantic search, OCR, previews — without time limit, within limits of 5,000 indexed files and 100 OCR pages per month. Please confirm that the app works as you expect with your documents and environment before purchasing.

4. Requesting a refund

Purchases from the Mac App Store (Apple)

  • Find the purchase in your Apple Account’s purchase history and choose “Report a Problem” to request a refund.
  • Apple decides whether to approve a refund and how long it takes, under Apple’s policies.

Purchases from the Microsoft Store

  • Find the purchase in your Microsoft account’s order history to request a refund, or contact Microsoft Support.
  • Microsoft decides whether to approve a refund and how long it takes, under Microsoft’s policies.

If the store does not refund you (direct refund by us)

If you are entitled to withdraw under the law but the store has not refunded you, contact us.

  • We will verify the purchase and the grounds for withdrawal. For this we may ask for your purchase record (store receipt, order number, etc.) and the bank account to receive the refund (bank name, account number and account holder).
  • Once your right of withdrawal is confirmed, we refund the payment directly to the account you specify within 3 business days of confirmation (E-Commerce Act Article 18).
  • If we do not refund you within that period, we also pay compensation for the delay at 15% per year for the period of delay (E-Commerce Act Article 18(2) and Article 21-3 of its Enforcement Decree).
  • We do not refund a purchase that the store has already refunded. When we refund you directly, we may ask you to confirm that you will not later request a refund of the same purchase from the store.
  • If you disagree with our decision, you may seek advice or mediation from the Korea Consumer Agency (1372 Consumer Counseling Center, in Korea).

5. Purchases by minors

If a minor buys a Pro entitlement without a legal guardian’s consent, the minor or the guardian may cancel the contract under Article 5 of the Korean Civil Act. This does not apply where the purchase was made within property the guardian allowed the minor to dispose of, such as pocket money (Article 6), or where the minor used deception to make it appear that they were an adult or had the guardian’s consent (Article 17).

Please first request a refund on cancellation through the relevant store’s procedure (section 4). If the store does not refund you, contact us: once we have confirmed the grounds for cancellation we refund you under the direct refund procedure, and we may ask for evidence that you are the legal guardian.

6. Users outside Korea

Users resident in certain countries, such as the European Union and the United Kingdom, may have a separate right of withdrawal (for example, a 14-day withdrawal period) under the law of their country and the store’s policies. This policy does not limit such statutory rights.
